Can a landlocked test laboratory offer high quality OCNS testing? If the laboratory is Chemex then the answer is yes!
Chemex have a reputation for being able to deliver accurate and reproducible data for the registration of chemicals on the OCNS. Chemex is an active associate member of the European Offshore Speciality Chemicals Association (EOSCA) so remains informed of the current data requirements throughout the North East Atlantic Sector.
One of the main concerns for ecotoxicology testing for the marine environment is the supply of good quality seawater. Chemex uses natural seawater collected from two sources, a CEFAS laboratory and a specialist marine invertebrate hatchery for our algae, crustacea, sediment reworker and biodegradation studies, and high quality artificial reconstituted seawater for our fish studies. The Ecotoxicology department at Chemex have years of experience of handling all sorts of chemicals and understand the complications that can occur when dealing with difficult and/or insoluble substances by means of Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFs). Chemex also have the capability to conduct bioaccumulation potential studies.
