Waste FAQ

What is WAC testing?

WAC testing refers to the Environment Agencies Waste Acceptance Criteria for disposal of waste to landfill. Current legislation dictates that all waste destined for landfill be tested for a specific set of parameters, which are compared to the appropriate criteria limits, to determine the most appropriate type of landfill site for its disposal. This suite is the minimum set of testing required and individual landfill operators may ask for additional parameters. Please click here for further information.

What types of WAC testing are there?

There are three distinct suites of WAC testing, with the parameters and associated limits dependent upon both the class of waste and the type of landfill for which the waste is destined. The three classes are Inert waste landfill, Stable non-reactive hazardous waste in non-hazardous landfill and Hazardous waste landfill. All three suites require that a leaching procedure be carried out according to BS EN 12457, with the leachate being analysed for a number of inorganic parameters. The waste is also analysed for additional parameters, largely dependent on the class of the waste. For more details please click here.

Can you analyse my discharge effluent?

If you have been provided with regulatory limits which you need to meet in order to discharge your effluent, we can analyse your effluent to ensure that your sample meets these prescribed limits. Just provide us with the required parameters and let us do the rest.
