mCERTS for Direct Toxicity Assessment

Chemex achieves mCERTS approval for DTA testing

Direct Toxicity Assessment (DTA) is a process of measuring the toxicity of an industrial effluent discharged to controlled waters and using the data to predict the risk to the aquatic environment.
Late 2006 saw the initiation of a mCERTS  (Monitoring Certification scheme) for Direct Toxicity Assessment (DTA) on effluents in the UK organised by the Environment Agency. To maintain our status as one of the top environmental testing facilities, Chemex participated gaining accreditation for both freshwater algal and daphnia tests. We are among a small minority of laboratories nationwide that successfully received approval. Chemex also offers effluent testing on marine species and we intend to gain mCERTS approval for marine DTA testing later this year.

So what does this mean for our clients? The reason we participated was to demonstrate to our current and future clients that Chemex has the facilities and staff necessary to obtain high quality data. Additionally Chemex continues to keep up to date with the constantly changing environmental legislation surrounding DTA testing.

This means when you send your effluent samples to Chemex for DTA testing you can rest assured your data will be high quality and your reports will match the demands of the regulators whilst keeping cost to a minimum. Why risk your samples in the hands of a laboratory, which has not been approved by the regulators potentially wasting your time and money.

Sending your samples to Chemex for DTA testing is a wise move as you can be assured of obtaining high quality data whilst keeping your costs to a minimum.

The advantage we have over the other mCert’s approved laboratories is that Chemex currently holds the contract for all the effluent testing by the Environment Agency in the Anglia region. A contract, which has been renewed over several years. What more proof do you need? If the organization responsible for effluent monitoring trusts us and utilizes our services routinely, why don’t you?
