Chemex helps you to comply with EA regulations by offering a comprehensive scope of mCERTS accredited parameters in soil.
Failure to meet the regulations can be costly, both financially and to a company's reputation. Chemex, being a mCERTS accredited laboratory, assures the user that it has met standards in a number of areas including:
- Method performance targets
- The selection and validation of test methods
- Sampling pre-treatment and preparation
- Participation in proficiency testing schemes
- The reporting of results and information
What is mCERTS?
mCERTS is the Environment Agency's Monitoring Certification Scheme. The mCERTS for the chemical testing of soils was introduced by the Environment Agency to ensure high-quality and consistent environmental measurements are used when evaluating and comparing analytical data.
How it affects you?
From March 2005 the scheme is applicable to all testing laboratories and procurers of analytical services where results generated for the chemical testing of soil are submitted to the Environmental Agency for regulatory purposes.
In April 2005 Chemex achieved its first mCERTS accreditation for soil analysis. To this date the scope has been expanded to cover the following parameters:
- Volatile Organics by GC-MS
- Semivolatile organics by GC-MS
- Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons by GC/FID
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (Aroclors) by GC/ECD
- Metals by ICP-MS: Arsenic, Barium, Beryllium, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Lead, Molybdenum, Nickel, Selenium, Thallium, Vanadium and Zinc
- Mercury by CV-AFS.
However, the work does not stop here. Chemex continues to add parameters to its UKAS/mCERTS accreditation schedule. Customers need be aware that mCERTS accreditation is specific to certain parameters in soil only. These are listed in the mCERTS standard Annex A.
